A floral arranger's list of materials: roses, tulips, calla lilies … green beans, a small eggplant, spaghetti.The theme at this year's Flora in Winter celebration at Tower Hill Botanic Garden in Boylston is “A Floral Feast,” and some arrangers took the notion literally, working cotton candy, popcorn, vegetables and even long strands of uncooked fusilli pasta into their creations.
“It's amazing. You give people a theme and let them run free with it and they come up with all kinds of different interpretations which is really what makes it so much fun,” said Michael Arnum, Tower Hill's marketing director.
The 10th annual Flora in Winter kicked off yesterday and runs through Sunday with events to attend and see at Worcester Art Museum in Worcester and Tower Hill Botanic Garden. At the art museum, amateur arrangers interpret artworks from the museum galleries using plant materials while professional florists are free to create using any
