News from the Garden Club of Marlin

'Going Green' was the title of the program and was presented with ideas and tips on how to use natural products, like coffee grounds, to help in gardening. Along with the gathered information, Mrs. Nutt brought a program entitled 'Selection of Landscaping Plants'. With a map of the landscaping of the Church of Christ grounds, she named the various plants and explained how well they performed in the location chosen for them to be showcased.

December began with a bang! Downtown Marlin streets were lined with citizens awaiting the annual christmas parade. The Garden Club was proud, being the oldest Garden Club in Texas, to have entered their float called "The Best Little Garden Club of Texas'. Mildred Wilson, Historical Preservation Chairman, headed-up the tremendous task of bringing it all together. Several members enjoyed the event by being along for the ride!

On December 6, the club gathered together at the beautiful Allen House. Hostesses for the day were Jimmie Nutt and Sheila Lawson. President Lawson began the occasion by welcoming members and guests. Mary Adams, Awards Chairman, honored special guest Marion Gamble with a certificate of thanks for all the many things he has done to help the club. Mr. Gamble now sports the title of 'Honorary Member' of the Community Garden Club of Marlin.
