Russ Lemmon: FDOT contractor winds up with egg on face for encroaching on ...
Seven bite-size Lemmon Drops to nibble on while waiting for the lines to form for the iPad 3:
• Judy LaPorte tried telling whoever would listen that the control box for the new traffic signal on State Road 60, near Walmart, was mistakenly being built on her property.
The problem is, no one paid any attention to her.
She even showed the on-site employees of Signal Technology Inc., the Florida Department of Transportation contractor for the project, the county's official Boundary Survey from 1992 — clearly showing the control box was not being built in the public right-of-way, but rather on her property.
The on-site employees were dismissive about her claim and didn't show her proper respect, she said.
"I'm angry they treated me that way," she said. "They made me out to be a liar."
Score one for LaPorte.
FDOT spokeswoman Barbara Kelleher confirmed the control box will be moved from LaPorte's property. It could happen as early as this week.
