Tributes after teen dies in car horror
EMOTIONAL tributes were paid last night to a young athlete killed in a horror road accident.Devastated pals laid flowers at the spot where Euan Murray, 18, was hit by a car as he tried to cross the road.
Paramedics — including a neighbour — raced to the scene of the horror in East Kilbride, Lanarkshire, but the track starlet died in Hairmyres Hospital soon after.
Friends later gathered at his home to comfort his mum Jackie, 48, dad Iain, 50, and sister Karen, 21.
And last night one neighbour said: "Euan ran for Scotland and had a great future. He was lovely.
"My husband was the paramedic at the crash. He can't believe it and we're thinking of the family."
Pals lit Chinese lanterns and set up a Facebook tribute page for the Giffnock North AAC athlete.
Chloe Paton wrote: "A golden heart has stopped beating."
Shannon Kelly added: "Your smile was unforgettable."
Cops appealed for witnesses to Saturday's 6.20pm accident. The driver, 33, and his female passenger were unhurt.
